Harry Norman, REALTORS® Cares

With care, compassion, and generosity, our REALTORS® are invested in enriching the communities we serve every day. Whether it’s donating meals to help frontline workers get through their shift with a smile on their face or collecting backpacks filled with school supplies for children who otherwise would have to go without, we are not afraid to roll up our sleeves and help in any way we can. That is just what happened recently when we partnered with the Community Assistance Center (CAC) for Harry Norman Cares Week.

Harry Norman Cares Week

Harry Norman Cares Week was put together by our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion group to promote teamwork and inclusivity within our community. As a company-wide event, we chose to help the Community Assistance Center because of the reach they have to help so many individuals and families in need. Our agents, staff and client were able to help by donating items at our offices and volunteering at their facility the second week of September.

Collectively, over 1,000 lbs. worth of food and clothes were brought into Harry Norman offices to be donated. Harry Norman volunteers also worked at the CAC facility for two days. With donations being brought in daily, we helped sort and organize the thrift store and stock shelves in the food bank.

About Community Assistance Center (CAC)

Started in 1987, CAC is a private nonprofit organization that helps the residents of Sandy Springs and Dunwoody facing emergency situations such as job loss, reduction of income, illness, medical emergency, or catastrophic situations such as fire or flood. Through donations from the community, they are able to provide financial assistance for rent or utilities, food, clothing, job placement assistance and more. Their goal is to prevent homelessness and hunger by stabilizing an emergency situation and promoting long-term goals of self-sufficiency through additional programs and referrals.

The need for these services is real as an increasing number of families struggle to make ends meet. CAC helps around 570 households a year avoid eviction with their financial assistance for rent or utilities bringing hope and the opportunity to regain stability for these families. Of the individuals they help, 80% coming to CAC for the first time admit that they skip at least one meal a day. By providing food to 500 households per month, these individuals don’t have to worry when their next meal will be.

We are so proud of our REALTORS® and staff for the work that they put into making this event successful. Thank you to all who donated and volunteered. We’re glad to be a part of such a great community and look forward to the continuing to serve metro Atlanta and beyond.
